An industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience in database marketing, Joel serves as ExactTarget's "eMarketing Evangelist" and is a keen observer of what's working in digital marketing to drive sales, optimize marketing performance, and strengthen customer relationships. Consistently rated as one of the top speakers and consultants in his industry, his presentations are loaded with one-to-one marketing case studies, best practices and examples of what to do and how to do it right.
Prior to joining ExactTarget, Joel served as Director of CRM Consulting for PrimeResponse in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a leading provider of campaign management solutions for multi-channel marketing. In 2001, PrimeResponse was acquired by Chordiant Software a Silicon Valley-based enterprise CRM technology company. Before joining PrimeResponse, Joel was Director of the Integrated Marketing Solutions practice for DiaLogos, a Boston based consultancy specializing in eMarketing solutions for customer acquisition, retention and growth.
Book began his career in 1976 at Johnson Hill Press, a business publishing company (now a division of Cygnus Media) in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin where he served as Director of Marketing until joining Farm Journal, Inc. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1984 as Vice President of Marketing Services. At Farm Journal, Book developed and ran the company’s highly successful Marketing Services division that provided database marketing services for Farm Journal advertisers.
Joel is a graduate of the University of Illinois where he earned a B.S. in Marketing Communications in 1976. Joel is a member of the Direct Marketing Association, the Email Experience Council, and the Business Marketing Association.
